– Promoting Vertical farming in Western Balkan through strengthening the linkages between business sector and VET provider-

In the ongoing pursuit of sustainable agriculture, we are thrilled to unveil the PROVER project, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at confronting the pressing challenges posed by diminishing agricultural land availability.

About PROVER Project:

The PROVER project appears to be a comprehensive and well-structured initiative aimed at addressing significant challenges in the adoption of vertical farming in the Western Balkan (WB) region. By focusing on bridging the gap between the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector and the business sector, the project aims to empower both trainers and learners with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in the controlled environment agriculture (CEA) industry.

The project’s objectives align with the growing importance of sustainable agriculture and the need for innovative solutions to address challenges such as food security, resource scarcity, and climate change. By leveraging decision support systems (DSS), capacity building frameworks, and online learning platforms, the PROVER project seeks to facilitate knowledge transfer, skill development, and collaboration among stakeholders.

Furthermore, the project’s emphasis on research, training, and stakeholder engagement demonstrates a holistic approach to fostering sustainable agricultural practices. The anticipated impacts, including improved employability, enhanced decision-making, and strengthened partnerships, suggest that the PROVER project has the potential to make a meaningful contribution to the advancement of vertical farming in the WB region.

Mission and Goals:
Over a span of two years, the PROVER project endeavors to combat the encroaching threat of agricultural land usurpation and conversion. Its primary objective revolves around advocating for vertical farming – a pioneering concept also referred to as vertical gardening – as an innovative and sustainable alternative.

Advantages of Vertical Farming:
Vertical farming involves cultivating crops in vertically stacked layers, maximizing the utilization of limited space and resources. This method boasts numerous benefits, including amplified crop yields per unit area, reduced water consumption, and diminished reliance on traditional farmlands.

Collaboration:
As the PROVER project embarks on its transformative journey, the collaboration among partners from Greece, Croatia, Albania, Montenegro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina emerges as a potent catalyst for positive change in the agricultural landscape. By championing vertical farming, the initiative not only addresses the quandaries of land scarcity but also fosters a more sustainable and resilient future for the region.

Towards a Greener Future:
As the project unfolds, it holds the potential to redefine agricultural paradigms, laying the groundwork for a greener and more efficient approach to food production. The PROVER project symbolizes a collective commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the cultivation of a brighter tomorrow.
