Albania: ETMI and “Charles Telford Erikson” VET School Deliver Vertical Farming Training in Albania

In April 2025, ETMI, in collaboration with the “Charles Telford Erikson” VET School, successfully implemented a local training program under the PROVER Project at the school’s facilities in Golem, Kavajë.

This initiative brought together 20 vocational education and training (VET) students, equipping them with practical knowledge and hands-on experience in the design and operation of vertical farming (VF) systems — a sustainable and forward-thinking approach to modern agriculture.

Training Highlights
The seven-day workshop series, led by expert trainers, focused on key vertical farming components using the PROVER Decision Support System (DSS) as a foundational tool. Participants explored essential topics such as:

  • VF System Design and Modelling

  • Climate Control and Lighting

  • Food Safety and Pest Management

  • Nutrient Management and Plant Growth Cycles

  • Business Planning for Sustainable Agriculture

This comprehensive training supports the alignment of vocational education with labor market demands, fostering innovation, employability, and entrepreneurship in the agricultural sector. It also contributes to the broader green and digital transformation of agriculture in the Western Balkans.

The PROVER Project is co-funded by the European Union and aims to strengthen cooperation between the business sector and vocational education and training (VET) institutions in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Greece, and Montenegro.
